Take a picture of sheet music and play it back. SnapNPlay music allows you to learn music like never before. If you are struggling with sight reading or just need a little help learning a piece of music, this app is for you. Its simple! Just snap a line of sheet music, use the note editor to correct OCR errors and play it back while watching the notes light up. You can also watch the notes played on various instruments. Manage your snaps in the gallery by creating albums and storing them for later use.

For optimal results hold your camera as close as possible to the line of sheet music. Do not include clef, key signature nor time signature in snap. When holding the camera too far away, it doesnt work as well. Also try not to shake while snapping.

This is a new and unique tool. It is very useful for beginning to intermediate sheet music. You will need to fix OCR errors with the easy-to-use note editor. This tool will also make you a better musician by allowing you to interact with your sheet music on your iPhone or iPad. After your piece is ready to play, watch the notes light up in time with the music and/or watch it played on an instrument. You can transpose this tune to other keys. You can also change the tempo.

Current instruments include: recorder, guitar, trumpet, violin

About the musical OCR: SnapNPlay music currently does not parse key signatures and clefs. You will need to select them when prompted. You can use the note editor to add rests and specify triplets. It currently does not support ties, staccatos and other musical nuances. It is mainly concerned with finding notes and rhythm. It is perfect for giving you a head start learning music from paper.

BTW, be sure that your mute button is OFF. Someone gave me a bad review because their mute button is ON and they cant hear the playback. Unfortunately I cannot reply to the review. Just google "Iphone mute button" if you have never heard of the mute button.

Feature request
Theres just one feature I wish this app had. I really wish it would recognize a music note just once. I havent seen any evidence that its even trying. If it would at least work really poorly, it would be an upgrade.
Lots of potential
This could be a great app some day. The idea has tons of potential. Currently the OCR simply doesnt work well enough to be useful to me, and the interface for capturing snapshots and correcting the OCR errors is extremely cumbersome and unforgiving, requiring several taps and drags at tiny fiddly targets. The patches currently used for playback sound shrill and unpleasant to my ears.
Maybe one day
As it stands right now, this app is of little use to me. It recognizes almost every marking as a note, and editing afterwords is a pain. It is a great concept and on some of the tests I ran it correctly identified all the pitches but was inconsistent at best. With a little updating of the recognition software this could be a great tool.
楽譜取り込めません can not snap !
楽譜取り込むためにカメラボタンをタップすると落ちます。星ゼロのまったく使えんアプリでがっかりです!有料なのが信じられません。開発者に問い合わせてもレス無しです。Be careful!! Tapping the camera button causes appli shut down and you can not snap the music score. Unbelievable Useless appli !
Terrible
You guys released this app waaaay too early. The screen size is way to small for the iPad. Its as if you guys just directly ported the iPhone version over. Doesnt work as promised. I was taking clear pictures in bright lighting and the app was still unable to recognize notes. Not to mention, it doesnt even see whole notes or half notes. Most of the time I had to type in the intended note. If I wanted to do that I wouldve just picked up a scoring app. For 3.99 this app needed to be much better. Currently a waste of money. Hoping that with updates, this app could live up to its full potential.
